Reduction in the use of plant protection products

This FAB-measure involves the reduction of the amount of herbicides, pesticides and fertilisers used on farms. Integrated pest management (IPM) fits in perfectly: during the growth you observe regularly and, if necessary, you choose for the least harmful products for yourself, the consumer and the environment, preferably non-chemical. When using, you don’t only take into consideration the effect on the phenomenon you want to combat, but also the effect on soil life, beneficial insects… For the reduced use of fertilisers, precision farming gets our attention.

This reduced use of plant protection products is supported by the other FAB-measures. Good hedgerow and field margin management attracts beneficial insects that make the use of plant protection products redundant. Working with manure quality reduces the need for fertilisers.
